How the checker works

Choose your nation, then tell us what kind of system you have, where its water goes and roughly when it went in. The checker matches your answers against the official rules for your nation and shows:

• a plain-English status, with the official page it comes from and the date we checked it
• what to do next, including questions to ask an installer
• a link to your printable system card, so you can keep the details in one place

If we haven't confirmed a rule for your nation yet, the checker says so and links to the regulator's own guidance instead of guessing.

Choose "I'm not sure" and the checker will tell you what to look for from the surface and who to ask. Don't open the lids to check.

What the result means

The checker is a starting point, not a survey. Only the regulator for your nation can say whether your system complies, and a qualified installer can tell you what work, if any, it needs.
